Bogo Coupons Restaurants

I once went to dinner with a casual acquaintance.?

When we were discussing where to go and she said could we go to a certain restaurant because she had a BOGO (buy one-get one) coupon. I said OK although it was a far more expensive restaurant than I normally eat at. My thinking was that it was a good deal since each of us would get our meal at half price. However, when the check came, she handed me her coupon saying here's my share. Was I wrong to expect the full bill to be split? How would you have handled it? In hindsight, I probably should have discussed it prior to dinner.

I would have made the same assumption you did, and in fact most people would. It makes you wonder why she even mentioned the coupon if she had no intention of sharing it with you. You would have told her outright, Oh, that's a little out of my price range, let's go somewhere else, or you would have budgeted for it in advance. I often get coupons to Ruby Tuesdays which is not pricey and a friend and I split the end result of the bill after the coupon. I would have paid the final bill and vowed never to eat out with her again, just on principal.
